86 points PROSECCO DOC TREVISO EXTRA DRY
Clean, bright and simple, this would taste great on a hot summer afternoon by the pool. Citrus, stone fruit and crushed white-pepper notes emerge on the finish. (M.L.) - WE Buying Guide

ANNUARIO DEI MIGLIORI VINI ITALIANI 2012 - Luca Maroni

THE BEST WINE, 89 points REFOSCO DAL PEDUNCOLO ROSSO 2009
Sensations: Very few at this level of exceptional density, including tannic, succeed in having a bouquet equally as intensely persuasive. Those few superstars that succeed in offering noteworthy emission and persuasive power, despite a tannic presence itself of a marked level. What spicy sweetness, what sweet mintiness, what fragrance pulpously unleashed by both the bouquet and taste of this wine. A palate that is unquestionably meaty, but never aggressive. Its depth, its turgidity, its smooth, enveloping, minty vigor. A Refosco of rare, splendid oenologic and oxidative integrity.

Conclusive Comment: Highly diffused pleasantness in the numerous and different wines offered by Moletto. Glasses with a versatile virtuosity, with the whites such as the Sauvignon 2010, the smooth Pinot Bianco Lison-Pramaggiore 2010, the delicate and floral Chardonnay Lison-Pramaggore 2010 revealing a smoothness and oenological distinctness in their production, traits also sumptuously confirmed in the reds, such as the powerful Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Selecti’ 2004 and the majestic Raboso 2005. Excellent transparency of aroma in the Prosecco Extra Dry and the smooth, enveloping Brut Millesimato Moletto 2008. The no. 1 wine of this tasting is the Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso 2009, a wine that reveals its decisive tendency towards overall excellence. Its combined smoothness/clarity is the stuff of champions, within a context of extractive-expressive richness and power. A wine turgid and chlorophyllous with spices that evokes blackberries. My compliments.

  DUEMILAVINI 2012

"In the eastern-most part of the province of Treviso, where over five centuries ago there stood a forest ruled over by the Serenissima (Venice), extremely favorable conditions for wine-growing emerged thanks to the fine and unique quality of the clayey-calcareous soil and farsighted tenacity of those who have dedicated themselves to perpetuating the age-old traditions, while remaining abreast of state-of-the-art wine-making technologies. This is Moletto, a family-run winery where working alongside Mario Stival, the original heart-and-soul of the vineyard, and his wife Anna, are their children Mauro, Giovanni and Chiara."

4 clusters CABERNET SAUVIGNON 'SELECTI' 2004: Garnet red. The bouquet opens with hints of withered rose, foxy overtones, tobacco, pepper, underbrush and brandied cherries. Excellent structure, good freshness and savoriness, and compact tannin. Fruity, spicy aftertaste. 60 months in tonneau and 15 in stainless steel tanks. Braised beef.

4 clusters BRUT MILLESIMATO 2008: Light green reflections, persistent, fine perlage. Fragrant, unleashes the aromas of crusty bread, Williams pear, hawthorn and herbs. Fresh on the palate with smooth froth; velvety and structured. Citrusy aftertaste. 24 months on the lees. May be drunk throughout the meal.

3 clusters FRANCONIA 2009: Violet around the edges. Deep, dark bouquet. Hints of sour cherry, wet earth, moss, cut grass and rhubarb. In the mouth, emits both freshness and warmth; dense tannin, lingering minty aftertaste. 15 months in stainless steel tanks. Grilled pork belly.

3 grappoli SAUVIGNON 2010: Light straw color. Varietal nose of tomato leaf, grapefruit, sage and mint. Fresh on the palate with good structure and fairly velvety. Bitter-citrusy aftertaste. Stainless steel. Sea bream baked in salt crust.

3 grappoli LISON CLASSICO 2010: Hints of lavender, fresh hay, thyme and eucalyptus. Fresh in the mouth with good savoriness. Good body and balance. Clean, no aftertaste. Stainless steel. Carpaccio of moorhen.

3 clusters MALVASIA EXTRA DRY 2009: Aromatic bouquet with hints of ripe pineapple, freesia, herbs and balsamic overtones. Sweet and smooth on the palate with marked freshness and pleasant savoriness. Persistent. Stainless steel. Linguini with pesto.
