.Vinification
Colmello Rosso edizione speciale is born of Merlot and Franconia harvested in 2000. After fermentation on the pomace in a controlled-temperature environment, this wine was left to age in not-overly-large barriques for seven years. It was transferred into bottles in October 2007.
.Tasting notes
Colour: impenetrable ruby-red with garnet-hued accents.
Bouquet: intense and generous, offering a range of scents: hints of sweet chocolate, a slight cocoa bite, cinnamon, nutmeg, white pepper, Mediterranean spiciness, brown tobacco, anise and licorice, accompany the intense traces of ripe plum and morel cherry.
Taste: on tasting, all the promise of the bouquet emerges, full and powerful. The tannins stand out--delicate, compact, sweet and harmonious—savouriness and acidity in perfect balance, sustained by a significant level of alcohol content.
