Merlot Affinato in Barrique

Simply in the approach, inviting and delicate, during the taste it gives off a combination which leitmotif is the balance between vanilla of the sweet wood and the wine. It goes well with red meats, fowl and game.

Altitude: 9 m A.M.S.L.
Soil: Motta di Livenza Vineyard Soil - flood plain origins of natural clay and limestone.
Exposure: east/west
Trellis System: spur-trained cordon
Plant Density: 2.000/3.000 plants per hectare
Age of vines: 52/18 anni years



Vinification

The grapes have been vinified in stainless steel vats, with a maceration on the skins for about 25 days at a temperature of 26°-30°C / 79°-86°F. Once the alcoholic fermentation was completed, the wine was racked into other stainless steel vats where malolactic fermentation begins. The wine was then put into barriques (225 l) for 24 months, followed by an additional rest in stainless steel until bottling. 



Tasting notes

Colour:  ruby red.
Bouquet: it shows a sweet wood, important but delicate with notes of vanilla that creates harmony between wood and wine. Slight note of morello cherry.
Palate: a wine attractive and nice, simple at first approach then complex. Round, slightly sour, warm, rightly tannic and with a structure that provide to accompany it to longevity.

Red or white roast meats, poultry, when fully aged is perfect with wild fowl or game.
